Nguoi Viet Tay Bac also known as Northwest Vietnamese News celebrated their Silver Anniversary on December 5th, 2011 at the House of Hong Restaurant in Seattle. I want to congratulate them for 25 years of hard work and dedication in bringing the Seattle’s Vietnamese community local news and community services. They have been so dedicated that they have not missed an issue.
When I was told that I was being honored at the event I was very disappointed that I could not make it. It means a lot to me to be recognized as a leader in our community. I am currently in Vietnam right now taking my little kids 6 and 4 years old. I wanted them to see how this journey started for me and my family. I want them to see how my brothers and I grew up. Tell them the story of how we left Vietnam and what my mom and dad did for us.
I am grateful to be in Vietnam with the family. I am also thankful for my dad being an inspiration to me. When he came to the U.S. he was a major contributor and when he passed away I told him that I would take the baton for him and continue his legacy into the world.
Today I can’t tell you how much this means to me. I learned after my dad passed away and from my mentors that the level of our success and happiness is in direct proportion to the number of people we serve selflessly.
So my vision today is to inspire and empower a billion people to live their own dream and do what makes their heart sing. Keep doing it until they pass away. Today my big contribution and dream is to inspire and empower a billion people. I look forward to doing that in the future and in the Vietnamese community.
