This is one of the reason that makes Columbia City unique. The Historic Columbia City Theater reopens on June 25th, they have another grand opening next July 2-3. Columbia City neighborhood is giving us an alternative to the local music scene dominated by venues in the Capital Hill, Ballard and Fremont areas. The venue is eclectic and with the new shops and restaurants that have opened will hopefully increase their success.

Rejuvenated neighborhood
The revived CCT joins a neighborhood that features a first-run movie theater, a bustling farmers’ market (May through October), the movable cultural feast of BeatWalk (May through October) and a polyglot ambience reflecting the diversity of a neighborhood whose ZIP code — 98118 — was recently found by the U.S. Census Bureau to be the most ethnically diverse in the United States.
All these factors are helping Columbia City (whose business district was added years ago to the National Register of Historic Places) gain momentum as a destination neighborhood — increasingly a place to go to, rather than go through. The theater’s reopening is another step in that direction.
