Seattle City Council approves three new historic landmarks
The iconic Hat ‘n’ Boots, a Queen Anne home, and former power station recognizedSeattle City Council recently approved landmark designation ordinances for three new City of Seattle landmarks. Located in three neighborhoods, these landmarks exemplify the diversity and the rich cultural and architectural heritage of our City.
The City of Seattle Landmarks Preservation Board approved the nomination, designation, and controls and incentives for each of these landmarks, and provided draft ordinances to City Council for approval.
The new landmarks are:
- Ankeny/Gowey House built in 1891 (Queen Anne)
- Dakota Place Park building built in 1930 (West Seattle)
- Hat ‘n’ Boots built in 1954 (Georgetown)
This is great news. I remember when at Hat ‘n’ Boots used to be a gas station and now they have turned it into a park. If you are in the area take some photos. I may just take a stroll down there with the kids and take some photos my self as well. 3 great communities preserving the history of our town. If you remembered what these 3 places looked like in the past or have photos please hare it with us.
