Kent Parks, Recreation and Community Services and the Kent Arts Commission present the 13th annual Fourth of July Splash at Lake Meridian Park, 14800 SE 272nd Street, from noon to approximately 10:30 p.m.  The Splash is free and open to all those seeking a Fourth of July filled with headline entertainment, water-activities, family games, and a variety of food booths and fireworks.

Family-friendly entertainment will include interactive computer activities, games, face painting, and bounce houses.  Watch or participate in a pie-eating contest at 3:00 p.m.; non-motorized boat races and the annual Lake Meridian Boat Parade take place on the water throughout the day.

According to event organizer Mark Hendrickson, this year’s Splash is sound-tracked by an eclectic mix of live folk, pop, soul and rock music.  “Entertainment includes the Community Showcase, featuring local artists from noon to 7:30 p.m. while main stage headliners Eclectic Approach performs at 8:00 p.m. bringing a diversity of rock and party music that will make for a great time for the entire family.”

“The 2011 pyrotechnic show promises to be the biggest and best ever and is reputed as one of the largest professionally produced fireworks displays in South King County,” Hendrickson added.

Off-site parking and free shuttle bus service begins at 11:30 a.m. and continues every 20 minutes to and from Lake Meridian.  Follow event parking signs to Fire Station #75, 15635 SE 272nd St.; Kentwood High School, 25800 164th Ave. SE and 132nd.
