Dr. Michael McAfee
Director, Promise Neighborhoods Institute
As the director of PolicyLink’s Promise Neighborhoods Institute, Dr. McAfee seeks to promote opportunities for education and advancement in low-income communities and communities of color. His previous work in the Chicago Regional Office of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development gives him a strong background in national housing policy. A veteran of the U.S. Army with a doctorate in education from George Washington University, McAfee is currently an Annie E. Casey Foundation Children and Family Fellow.
Neighborhood House will participate in the Promise Neighborhoods Institute’s Intensive Learning Partnership for our High Point Promise Neighborhood Initiative.
What is a Promise Neighborhood? Modeled after Geoffrey Canada’s Harlem Children’s Zone, our Promise Neighborhood Initiative will offer numerous programs supporting the 800 families in High Point, to guarantee that all of their children reach college. All 1,200 of them! That’s our promise.
